The Galveston Pirate Festival celebrated its first annual event this September. Starting on Monday, September 20, and continuing through Sunday, the Island was alive with Pirate-themed Festivities ranging from pirate history to pub crawls, haunted tours, and a fashion show. The founder of the Pirate Festival, Johnny Steverson, wanted the festival to be a fun and interactive way to bring attention to the local businesses of Galveston, including businesses like A Pirate’s Life on the Strand, which was responsible for outfitting many of the pirates at the festival.
